Cumulus Inc: Noisy but tasty

Cumulus Inc – the place you take pot luck with because you can’t book, does not dissapoint with its food but you don’t want to go there if you are looking to have a serious conversation. The floorboards and acoustics in this warehouse feel space make it near impossible to hear normal conversation. Having said that it has a great buzzy atmosphere for a quick meal – open all day….great for a quick lunch before or after browsing the art galleries on Flinders Lane.

The food makes up for the noise. Large selection of small dishes to choose from and share.

We had a lunch of rabbit terrine on a bed of prune and caper relish which were great together –  fresh bread to accompany.  The spiced cauliflower (chargrilled I suspect) sitting on a bed of goats curd was sensational (a great twist to what can be a bland vegetable) and a plate of seared scallops with fresh bacon served with baby cress and pearl barley was a skillful combination.  Perfectly washed down with a glass of pinot gris from NZ.
