Il Migliore: Not all sweet

Il Migliore specialises in sweet as well as savoury Italian biscuits wrapped in beautiful paisley boxes and big colourful bows – the perfect gift when visiting friends. Easter and Christmas hampers sound like a good idea

Rather than over-stocking the shop with numerous product, Il Migliore has focused on fewer products but makes them really well – which I suspect ensures the quality stays high.

It also makes a small selection of  pre dinner snacks and accompaniments for the cheese board. Savoury nuts, pita bread, almond bread, fig and walnut bread etc

My favourite is the orange crisps. They are thin wafers of dried orange slices, delicately crisp half dipped in dark chocolate, a great accompaniment with coffee after a meal. These crisps are not chewy,  stick in your teeth or sickly sweet like other orange slices I have tried).  Their latest addition of wild figs dipped in dark chocolate is simply divine.

Both the lime and orange jam and the fig and ginger jam are exquisite and are contrasted by 2 great relishes sans preservatives (tomato and beetroot relish), perfect with roasted meats.
